. The Suzuki Swift (late 2001 model) I had before my Yaris was assembled in Canada. It was a good car --- one brake job, one clutch adjustment (a friend did the clutch adjustment and didn't charge me), 2 sets of inexpensive tires (after the OEMs), and 1 replacement battery in 151k + miles. My cousin's wife has a Saturn SUV (last year made)....same as the Terrain (?) assembled in Canada. I don't know if hers was assembled in Canada. Although it doesn't effect my county, a number of people here are cheering the vote (rejection of the union) at the VW plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Hey guys! Update. After checking out the Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto with my brother (and getting his advice between my choices) I'm going to be buying a Yaris SE! 5 Spd, and the Blazing Blue Metallic :) I am just waiting to buy in either March or April, to see if there's any spring sales!

Congrats re your decision! Are 5-speed SEs fairly easy to find in Canada ?.....Not so much here in the United States.

A dealer I was contacting had a 5spd in stock, not blue, but they said they have a blue one in their inventory. SO EXCITED (First time buying new)

Just an update. I purchased the car last weekend. However, they no longer had the blazing blue metallic in inventory (or anywhere in Canada) so it is a factory order, and will take a few months to come in. I'm fine with that since there's no urgency, as I've not had a car for around 10 years, I can go a few more months XD. But yeah, red tag days were on, and got 0.9% financing (there were no cash incentives for the SE). Excited!

Hey guys! Just got word from my dealer that my car has been built. Should be here mid July after it crosses the ocean from Japan to Vancouver, then a nice lil choo choo to Toronto.

Neat little piece of information my dealer told me, while the 2014 Yaris are generally made in France now, the SE's are still Japan. He sent my VIN so I can give to my insurance, and it's a J :D

SEs still being made in Japan is interesting, I agree. I am going to check the VINs on any Yaris L and LE on the next dealer lot I happen upon.

Hi all
Just to add ,it s also a question of style ,Yaris is not with the same family with corolla .
Yaris is small hb car ,corolla is another class.it s a question of taste too.The Yaris looks like sport car for young man.You can make mofications with your future yaris and make it looks better .Corolla is long car for aged people although it s not rule .both cars are good ,its depends on your taste ,needs etc .I own a Yaris 1.3 vvti 99hp and I m satisfied with it .the only thing I find it bad is that front brakes should be changed every 30 000 km or less.2 generation yaris' brakes last longer about 80 000 km

yeah....80k km is less than 50k miles even with hard driving and deceleration from almost 150mph several times per weekend when I race my stock ones lasted me 80k miles. I can't think of how a non track car would regularly burn though the stock brakes at less than 50k miles unless it was literally all hard braking in a city environment. Hell I have close to 100k miles on my rears.

Yes , the problem of brakes is with third generation Yaris H back ,not the second one .Toyoya Algeria recommends to change front brakes of third generation hb yari every 30 000 km or about 18641 miles
