Ok here's an historical question.
In 1932 how many Ukrainians did Stalin starve to death?

Do russians really count 1, 2, 3 differently? (using thumb, then pointer then middle finger... or something)
Is Russia really scary? Russians have mostly been portrayed in movies as enemies or as scary assassins or with vampires...hahaha |

I will say so, you can buy any car. But the government is developing production in the country, holding high duties on those cars which are imported from other countries. Therefore, many car manufacturers have created a new factory in Russia, it's Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Hundai, Renault etc. Old machines (eg american muscle cars etc) to import it is theoretically possible, but it is worth the money unreal. Although fans of these cars is not enough. Although as elsewhere, there is almost everything, even in my town a couple of Camaro and Mustang go.
Car preferences are heavily dependent on the region. South all riding on LADA, the European part of Russia (Moscow, etc.) are mainly imported cars assembled in Russia, but many imported cars from Europe. In the Far East, (where I live), many go on JDM cars from Japan. So as to go by car from Moscow (for example) to my town, it further than from San Diego to Portland. 2 weeks on the road. There is certainly an amateur, but I do not understand them. Last edited by Berkut; 10-17-2014 at 11:38 PM. |

If you take the car and drive from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, I think it is not more dangerous than the daily ride home from work. In the Caucasus, just not worth it to go, there they are strange. In general, Ewan McGregor traveled. National Geographic have a movie about it. Many myths about Russia is not true. Bears do not go on the streets. And I have them all only seen in the zoo. Earflaps(ushanka) nobody wears. All go to Columbia, Jack Wolfskin and other casual clothes. I go through the winter in a knitted hat, if it is very cold wearing a hood. In the valenki go only the elderly and children (there is a cute, and they really warm).
Drink a lot, mostly depressed towns where it is difficult to work. Recently, the people began to change their point of view to this, and a drunken man has compassion and understanding of the causes, it is not normal. In Russia, not scary)) know that you are an foreigner rather want to make friends)) Years of differences did their job, it is politicians play games, but to ordinary people that want to see the world, to look for friends. Over the fingers. Yes))) its true. Try to make a fist and extension of the fingers. What's the first? A little later I will do a few pictures of my ordinary day Last edited by Berkut; 10-17-2014 at 11:47 PM. |

An interesting feature. Pay attention to the number. 777 privately sell for about $ 3000. A car on which it is installed, it is worth a maximum of $ 500.
There is a fashion to put on expensive cars such numbers. Legally, they can only get in a queue, so of course they are buying. Now the government is preparing a law, that anyone could want to buy the numbers like 777, 888 with no restrictions. So while that's luck for trucks and such garbage like car on photo. |

I may have asked this question on a previous thread..can't remember. Can one rent a car (at a reasonable price) and drive from Vladivostok to Khabarovsk ?
If so, is this an insane adventure for someone who doesn't speak any Russian ? I could bring a friend who speaks pretty good Russian...he was previously married to a woman from Moscow and his mother-in-law and step-daughter lived with them for much of the time they were married. Would the adventure, in addition to the landscape be worth the effort?...Or would flying from Vladivostok to Khabarovsk and renting a car as needed make more sense ? |

This is not a Trabant)) . This Lada -2106. Essentially a restyled Fiat 124. 15 years ago was very popular. Specifically, this year 99. My first car was this)). At the trunk says "Жигули" in English says "Zhiguli". These are the mountains. And an interesting fact, in 80-90 shipped to Europe, and on the Italian "Жигули" pronounced gigolo. Therefore, export nameplate cars was "Lada".
