IIRC, that big gap is normal for plugs with iridium tips.
I have had a look at mine (68k km), and they almost looked the same, just a bit less of coal on them.
However, I suspect american cars to run a bit richer than european ones.
Might be due to different emission standards, I'll have to do some research in order to get clarity.
Btw, how is your long term fuel trim?
