This all sounds pretty safe and logical but looking at my engine bay there are so many nooks and crannies water can get into like under fire wall and around fender wells and wasn't sure if there is any danger on shorting anything out.

Good question with this car. I know I used simple green Max on my old cavalier, but the process was different, heat the engine up, spray everything down with simple green, let sit for 30 mins, wash everything off with a hose. Been wanting to clean up my engine bay, so this advice interests me.
