Pin #9 from the ODB2 port will give you rpm signal.

Shirt light at 2000rpm. Fuel economy :)

I'm sorry but if you need to look at a light to tell you when to change gear then you really shouldn't be driving a manual transmission.
The correct rev/min at which to change gear varies with conditions and circumstances. You shouldn't even have to rely on a tachometer either, ears are the best indicator. We seemed to manage quite well years ago even before the advent of rev. counters.

So when you're at the track trying to focus on corners and physically driving your car it's not a good idea to have a tach or shift light to tell you the difference between 6000rpm and 6100 rpm?
