Bluetooth on the 15 Yaris

Looking at buying a 16 Yaris SE. Coming from a new Avalon Limited. Has anybody paired their phone up with the Yaris? Does it work really well. I've been all over YouTube, and know the car inside and out, but can't seem to find that answer. It's pretty important to me, because I don't like to hold the phone to my ear while driving. I've gone the earpiece route in past vehicles, but I always end up misplacing or losing the pricy earpiece. Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I wanted to be certain that the volume was at an acceptable level and that the person on the other end could hear you without any issues. I appreciate it.

Great that YouTube was such a help !...Got to be one of the best sites ever ! Just out of curiosity, what are the basic rules re cell phone use while driving in South Dakota? (for example, IIRC, there used to be no restrictions in Texas...and then a few years ago 'must be hands free' was put in place re within so many feet of a school).

Cell phone use is allowed, hand to ear. Texting is illegal where I live and the fine is a whole $100 bucks. See people texting constantly, and whenever I pass a crappy driver they are always talking hand to ear on their cell. I hate holding my phone to my head, thus I use my Bluetooth or speaker when able. I don't like the research that I'm seeing about brain tumors and cell phone usage. Better safe than sorry.

I completely ignore my cellphone while I am driving. Whatever it is can wait until I reach my next destination. I just want to chill, listen to the radio, and pay attention towards keeping my Yaris in one pristine piece, on roads fully of selfish, angry, impatient, crazy people. I just don't understand the 24/7 obsession/addiction people have to talking on them, or using them.

I really do need to get a smartphone though - just to stream my Pandora customized radio stations to the Bluetooth in my car, if for nothing else.

I like to talk when driving, so Bluetooth is imperative. Often times I want complete silence and enjoy listening to the cars engine, so I won't use my XM on my Avalon.

I never text while driving, and only very, very, very rarely use a hand held while driving. I have a couple of Bluetooth headsets buried somewhere. IIRC, I changed phones and the one after that didn't have Bluetooth. Subsequent ones did and do, but I never got back to using the headset again. Yikes re what you've read about tumors and hand held use. Hearing about that, plus planning to get a nice aftermarket head unit to pair to 'after the holidays' = I plan to get 'back in the habit' re Bluetooth .

Yeah, Phoenix is bad...but I've found Houston to be worse re such issues. However...IMO, neither is anywhere near as bad as much of Florida . Draw a line across the state at Bradenton.....pretty much anywhere south of there = .
