It's a feature in most modern cars (a feature I've disabled more than once because I'm cheap and frankly, it doesn't do enough to be worth losing the mileage and putting the wear on the compressor all winter). In fact, most of my driving has been without A/C defrosting in the winter (cars without A/C, cars with broken A/C, cars that had really easy to disable A/C).
