I'm not familiar with the 1.3L, but that is very odd for an injected motor to "run-on" or "diesel". Odd enough that I've never seen it on an injected motor in 20yrs of dealing with cars. If it is dieseling, it means you have both fuel and ignition. Fuel could be leaking injector as mentioned, or engine oil. Ignition could be hot carbon deposits or valves. High idle RPM also contributes as it makes it easier for the engine to keep going. It could also be something totally different in that maybe one circuit of the ignition switch is not turning off. So maybe your ECU is still powered and commanding it to run, but the fuel pump has shut off. You would expect to have some obvious electrical problems at the same time though.
