Well i think youre still correct as its technically plastic but more of a sort of black vinyl sticker based on the manual, to cover the bodycolored metal panel.

To the OP, you can get sticker panels for those from ebay, even i want one for my yaris. I believe its called gloss black trim and i think its miles better than the stock matt black, as it looks like really classy flows with the shine of the window glass.
