Sucks to hear this. Small 4-slider HVAC control panels of my high miles outdoor living winter suffering circa 1990 Tercel and Corolla were/are smooth and service free.

Update:
FINALLY got started on this yesterday. This is where I ended up when I realized, much to my chagrin, that I accidentally ordered the wrong part.

I MEANT to have ordered a 55906A. What I THINK I did was order a 55909A.

The two pictures below show either end of the cables. On both, the one on the right side is the one that I just removed from the car.

Thus far, this has proven to be a project that SHOULD have been much easier. Not sure how any engineer thought this was acceptable.

More as I have it.
