Your favorite oil for 1NZ-FE
For my part i try 5W30 GTX High Millage KM Castrol 120 000km +
It seems 1NZ-FE can accept 5W20? If 5w30 oil is out of stock |

I can't imagine 5w30 oil ever being out of stock. Half the cars on the road use it. I use Supertech (Walmart) full synthetic 5w-30.

0w30 is my favorite for the 1nz in the climate I live in due to the very cold starts in the winter.
I now use it in my 2zr even though it calls for 0w20 as our summers can get pretty hot and the 2zr actually uses 0w30 in other continents. Its more of an emissions reason why they state 0w20 for the North American ones.

I don't really have a favourite oil for the Yaris, I just buy whatever 5W30 is a good deal or on sale. Officially the Yaris calls for 5W30 with the option of using 10W30 in the summer or in a hot climate. Now that Toyota has adopted low viscosity motor oils across the board (for fuel economy reasons) they have revised their recommendations for the 1NZ-FE to also include 5W20 and 0W20.

Royal Purple and 5W30 Car starts at -40c/f no problem...........no need for any other grade when the car is kept in good mechanical order.

Last year I was on a 10years old Panasonic battery on 0w30, which was on its last calls and I had no issues starting. I switched back to 5w30 on a Walmart everstart battery, and it cranks a tiny bit longer than before when outside is -15°C or lower. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk |

I have been using 5w-30 Toyota PFE ACEA 2 DPF Diesel spec oil on my 1NZ
and it has been cleaning up the gunk from the previous owner :) I was worried that it would be too thin for a 190000km engine but the compression figures went up so I guess its cleaning up the gunk from the ring grooves (206 PSI all four from 189 ) |

When I didn't have bulk 5w30 at work, I bought name brand on sale, typically Mobil clean 5000 5w30 jug, range between 12-16 bucks, depending on sale and only with Yota filters, case off Amazon twice, plus some from work.
I try and stick with weight it calls for and go every 5k. I know the newer ones state every 10k (not mine), but still wouldn't do that mileage. If most read the manual, even people that do 10k should really fall in the 5k category, most anyway. Some older folks do the once a year change. See Wikipedia for oil grading and why, good explains there.

Amsoil Signiture 0-20w & matching filter
I change at 15k...once the turbo goes on I may switch to a 30weight based oil and ill shorten the interval to 5000 or 7500 and have it tested and adjust from there

I hear that has a more stable viscosity at low temps. Practically a grade VI syn oil

5w-30 Pennzoil Platinum exclusively. it's a great synthetic and pretty widely available(ie. big box retailers) and not pricey. Ace Hardware has it on sale for $5/quart.

I've used Mobil1 5W30 and Purolator filters since my first oil change.
