My sister's 2012 Mazda3 has had its windshield replaced THREE times already since she purchased it new, and her 2004 Toyota Sequoia twice. I've had a dime-sized rock hit repaired on my 2015 Yaris (upper middle of windshield) thus far. It wasn't quite bad enough to warrant full windshield replacement. Next time, it will.

when i visited the states i got a big one on the hire car over an inch wide just outside tucson on my first day there lol

True enough - but, I will take running the rock gambit any day over dealing with road salt, rust, and ice/snow weather driving with crazies in general.

How much is a replacement windshield or chip repair where you guys are?

I paid $280 for a windshield installed - but chip repairs in my city were $70!
