Then I guess they changed something that broke all the old links? Assuming people with old posts would need to update all the image links?

I'm only guessing, but something definitely happened because a bunch of old posts with images linked from Photobucket stopped working. The majority of them are still broken.

Broken exactly.Dont think this would ever happen with imgur.There is quite a few posts that are kinda useless without the pics.
