For me it was the challenge, as well as the relative cost. Finding a used MT xD with reasonable mileage for less than the cost of the parts to do the swap just wasn't gonna happen. With the comparatively low HP of the engine overall, that 300 lbs does make a difference. The larger wheels and hubs of the xD increase the unsprung weight, decreasing the potential performance. Also, the xD was never available in a 3-door and I prefer the larger openings to that of a 5-door. It even gives you the option to make a 7/8ths scale Corolla if you do it to a sedan. =)

The other side of it was the (highly unlikely) opportunity to home brew a GRMN Yaris by scavenging a Lotus 2ZR supercharger and taking it to a whole new level of absurdity.
