I'm a big fan of dedicated winter tires. They do make a significant difference. An extra set of rims is cheap for these cars and you save a lot of $$ not having to get the tires swapped out each season. I have no direct experience with the two tires you mention, but I think it's widely accepted that the Nokian Hakkapelitta tires are about the best winter tire available.
