a lot of times you can just get different length bolts and still use the OEM springs and washes, due to the flange thickness on aftermarket exhausts.

other things i have done include:

using springs from a motorcycle clutch.

cutting the factory sprint in half and using half on each side (severe clearance issues from a knockoff exhaust kit)

cutting the factory flange off and welding it to the new exhaust.

changing out the OEM manifold to a header that used a flat flange or a V-band clamp.
