I just did this on my GF's car. With my shit luck, the wiring was too short to run from the plate area up to the taillight - so I soldered up some extension wires and ran that for the signal.
With a hatch you WILL have to get creative & patient. You can run the original (or extension) wires thru the factory grommet, then pull it thru the headliner, down the C-pillar (obviously remove the weatherstripping & interior trims, as necessary), the run them and tap them into the taillights. I did something similar on a Lexus SUV a couple years ago, and had to run it behind the curtain airbags - such a pain... |
