Sir,

Thanks for bringing this to general attention.

Corolla 1.3 VVT 2006, manufactured in France, here...

Humbly, i have exact same problem early last year. Didnt beep at first. Car just stopped-and-wouldnt-start when driving slowly in queue. After some time, the defective gear-control burned out my clutch discs. It was only beeping at the very end and... Well, I thought it was just defective physical clutch. Ok. Had just the clucth plates replaced. But only to get exact same problem now again... 1 year later. It was the other car parts, I suspect

Besides the beeping, you gotta smell carefully for burnt clutch, please.

Sir, please watch (I know, slightly other model, but setup and year looks very similar to me):

This problem can originate from either of reasons :

- bad relay
- bad transmission control computer box (located behind glove department)
- bad automat-clutch motor
- it might even mean that your gearbox is leaking oil, I personally had that experience for a short period
- or it could even be some error in the transmission rotation-sensor

without proper error-diagnostice, we will replace parts in the blind. Please read comments in video above and notice gentleman, who replaced all gear-motor-control-parts and things still didnt work...

Back to basics - if it's beeping, it may be an electronics issue or at least detected by electroncs. It's not just some physical defect, which goes unnoticed. Doing a short test by applying manual gear selection may help to determine if this an automat-issue only. Going for the relay also allow for an easy replacement-test. Good luck - I will have to figure out myself what is the real reason for my cluctch-beeping noise. Starts after approx 10 min idle engine - with no attempt to change gear. It's 5 beeps - followed by 6 beeps then 5 beeps... Burnt clutch. For more information, I found this useful:

watch out for R2 and number 21... Also, on ebay I searched for : Toyota VCI Mini Scanner -- and I'm buying one. After all, this is just one step up from doing OBD codes - gotta try this out. Only problem is that shipping from china takes ages.

I hope this will all help people, who will run into this in the future.

Seriously - this is a Toyota factory quality issue - diagnosis shouldnt be that hard also. Doing beeps and not delivering error code is just genuine bad customer-service.

regards
