Ok I found something (on some other dealer's website) about Toyota conducting a study with 0w20 and making the transition to using it: https://www.toyotaofgreenville.com/ow-20-oil.htm
"Based on the results of a recently completed, long-term study, Toyota has begun the transition to synthetic lubrication standard (SAE OW-20)" But I can't seem to find more info about that study... I've tried searching the Toyota website. So I'm not sure if that transition is just for newer cars or some previous ones too. I'm finding some stuff scattered about 0w20 being recommended for the 1NZ-FE engine. Still not finding anything official. It might just be me, but it seems difficult to find an official list and statement. I'll call Toyota tomorrow and see about getting something official—a link to something for some reassurance. |

But it would be gratifying to talk to a real person! I wonder how long it will take to get through the AI?
