Never rubberized coatings or paint. Rocks create cracks in the finish and if it's not self healing or liquid it will create more rust by trapping salt and moisture. Spray oil, lanolin based undercoating, or some kind of oil way mixture. Keywords oil spray, fluid film, woolwax. Fluid film stinks. Used motor oil probably kills God's creatures. Woolwax smells great and doesn't drip. It's the only one I recommend out of the three
