Type pressure sensor issue

The type pressure light on our 2016 Yaris always comes on when I start the engine. It flashes for a while and then stays on. I understand this indicates a problem with one of the pressure sensors.

A reputable type place has told me that teh sensors all read fine. He has reset the warning light and told me that if it doesn't go out after a long run, then this means I probably need to go to a Toyota dealer to have software updated.

Can only Toyota do this? What is it likely to cost?

Any other advice?

Thank you.

I think any "help" would need more information on the background first; basically what changed when the issue first appeared? How old are the sensors? Did you recently change tires or have a flat repaired? Does the car's computer (read through OBD port) codes for the sensors match the current sensors individual codes?

This happened quite recently. We'd taken the car to have one of the tyres removed and resealed as it was leaking a the rim. The person who did this said he thought a sensor was fault.y A different garage has tested the sensors and says they are OK, and advised the software upgrade.

I'm afraid I don't know how to answer the last part of your question!

Suspect, not accusing, reseal shop who "thought a sensor was faulty" may have damages the sensor for that wheel and didn't want to take responsibility for it. There is no "suspect" a sensor is faulty, his TPMS scan tool (if he had one) would show "yes" of "no" if it was working. He may have simply stuck another (unknown) sensor in to cover his mistake, but that alternative sensor MUST be programmed into the car's computer. Sure, the sensor may read "good" with a scan tool, but unless it has been added to the car's TPMS computer data base the car will not recognize it and throw the TPMS warning light.
Note: If this guess is correct, and the reseal shop installed an aftermarket sensor, a scan/program tool specific to that brand of aftermarket sensor may be required to add it to the car's data base; most aftermarket sensors have proprietary language requiring you to own their scan/programming tool.
