Can someone teach me Yaris math?
Hey can anyone help me? I'm having a really hard time reading the yaris speedometer the fact that its in the middle is not messing me up.But how do you tell when your going 55? It goes 0 10 20 40 60 80 etc I know that the little bar inbetween like the one from 40 then its 50,but how do you get 55 from four smaller bars, then it goes to 60? That makes no since, why did they not make it where you can see 55? Help me if you can I know i sound like I'm really stupid but its hard to tell how fast your going on this car. I love it love the miles and the gas I save but am I going 50 or 55 or 60 or am I going 62 63 do you have to have it right on the 60 mark is just little past it another number?

not to sound mean, but if this is a serious question we can help you answer it... i don't have mine yet, but can still answer this for you...it goes from 0 - 10 - 20 - 40 - 60 - 80 etc. right in other words, in between 20/40 is 30 right...there should be just a line... well in between 20 and the line will be 25... get it? it's not hard by any means.... so 22 would be just a little past the 20 mark

you should get some kind of bell installed when you hit 55, so you know when you have reached the speed limit...lol

I am serioius I really do not get it. The gauge is hard to read at 55 how can you co from 40 to 55? Is each line worth 5? So the first line past 20 is 25? Why could they not just make the speedometer like the Prius? So I am going 60 and if I can back a line is the 59? Please help me I am not 12 but I have hard time with the car please someone that can help me please do. Please start at the beginning and help me understand how to read from 0 to the end. Please do not laugh at me I want to make friends and not be made fun of .

take your speedo out of your car and measure between 50 and 60mph and halfway between the 2 get a bright red marker and put a mark there.

on my spedo "usa sedan type" there is a line for every 10 MPH, with every other one labled, and inbetween each of the lines there is a dot, indicating the +5MPH for each of the lines so from the left to right it goes
line(0&labled)dot(five)line(ten)dot(15)line(20&lab led)dot(25)line(30)dot(35)line(40&labled) dot(45)line(50)dot(55)line(60&labled)dot(65) and so on, until it reaches a line(130) so if you want to go 55 MPH just go one dot before the line labled 60 or go one dot pased the line between the lines labled 40 and 60 or go three quarters of the way between 40 and 60 or go 6 dots past zero or go 11 markings past zero but yes to answer your question, the spedo is correct or what was the question? yes just past the 60 is another number, depending on how far past it may either be 62, 63, or 60 and 1/64th hope that helps :) |

Wow !! this one takes the cake.
theyarisfreak, if you are serious about actually going the exact speed, get something else to measure your speed, (GPS receiver for instance), as speedometers in cars are NOT accurate. They will wary generally from +5 to -5 % , or even more from the actual speed. (there are many factors that contribute to this) But man if you can’t figure out how a speedo works… well maybe you shouldn’t be in the car in the first pace. Sorry , but people with questions like that scare me, and to think you are on the road. Dweeb

The big line between 40 and 60 is 50mph. So....when the needle is halfway between 50 and 60 would be 55....
This is not just a yaris thing, many different car makers use the same type of speedometer.

well think of it this way, in the U.S. cops can only give you a ticket if you are going more than 2.5mph over the spped limit, so get to were you're close to the speed limit and you should be fine... if you can't figure that out you shouldn't be driving...it's like telling time on a clock with hands
