If anyone is interested , i would be more than happy to make some up.
this is what it cost me to buy or make . Cost's Gas Stay and mounts $88.00 NZ (465mm x 190mm stroke Solinoid $14.00 NZ Switch $8.00 NZ Solinoid Mount $???? made from some scrap steel i had (at a guess $11.00 NZ if i bought some more) Solinoid Screws $9.00NZ Bolts-nuts & washers $???? had 6mm S/S bolts and nuts already had (x 6 off required ) inline fuse holder $7.00NZ Wire approx 6 Mtr's $18.00NZ Paint $???? already had Total cost $162.00 NZ + misk Items (approx $105.00 US) + Paypal fees 4% Postage could be costly though , depending on where you are and if a tracking number was used. hmmm at high speed, hard braking, you could have the hood flip up = airbrake!
I'll give you 5 stars for ingenuity and tinkering spirit, though I don't quite fully understand why you'd want to have a remote hood release like that in the first place

But the air brake idea sounds cool too , or it could be used to stop the blinding lights of on coming drivers at night . i suppose it is a case of each to there own , but i like it ,and that's all that matters at the end of the day. |

PrincessAuto Canada Gas Shocks On Sale
Just an FYI to Canadian YW members, PrincessAuto (like HarborFreight in US) has a 17 in. gas shock on sale thru Oct 2, for C$3.88ea, which is a steal and it fits the Yaris Hood.
I did not see this thread before I install, I placed the cylinder porting down, like the hatch, but OP here has it reversed, that will work too. some of the images I've enclosed. |
