And everybody. The state, the auto manufacturer, the server, the key manufacturer, . . .

I removed the passanger seat in my ECHO as well as the rear seat and seat back. Then I made a platform out of 3/4" plywood on about 8" legs that went where the seats were so it was level with what was left of the back seat area. It made for a narrow but sufficiently lenthy sleeping area. I drove around out West for a month at 45 mph seeing the sights and sleeping in the car most every night. I think the whole trips was $800 food gas and occasional motel rooms.
This doesnt seem possible with the Yaris without pretty extensive remodeling. Which is a shame because it might be nice to have the option of living in my Yaris. Given what the politicos are doing to our country.

Can't win, though. They'd have to pass a law to let you.

Shit, that's commitment right there.

I like how you improvised.

I've been considering doing something similiar since I picked up this little car. Good time to do it because once the recession ends gas prices are going to go up, and up, and up, and up... 400 - 600 miles a day in a Yaris and motel rooms every night is less than half of what traveling around in a typical motorhome would cost.

As for the DWI stuff, in Michigan at least they could care less if you have the keys or not, if they can nail you they will. That's wrong on a lot of levels imo. It's not the A plan, but if someone has had too much to drink and has the sense to be off the road and not driving I say let them be. They're not hurting anyone.

I find the Yaris quite comfortable to sleep in, but i am comparing it to the Miata i've had for the last 8 years, you have no idea what discomfort is all about till you've tried sleeping in a Miata.

Toyota Canada used to offer a tent that worked off the HB. Do a search. Maybe it's still available and an option for you.
