A rear view camera and monitor (instead of the sight obstructing mirror.) Something with a 7 inch screen where I can do my music, get directions, and monitor all of my engine functions.

An automatic locking feature on the lift-back so you do not have to lock it using the key every time you close it. Similarly, a lift-back release lever inside the cabin by the fuel filler door release that would unlock the LB but not open it.

For such a well designed car, I find the opening and locking system for the LB to be very poorly designed. Why should I have to fumble with my keys to lock the LB every time I close it? Is this a design feature that they found in market research that people wanted the lift gate to stay unlocked after closing it?

Oh yeah, and a selectable intermittent wiper dial. My crappy '89 Dodge Daytona had that - why doesn't Toyota put that on their cars?

The 2007 Yaris, as you all know, does not have Independent Rear Suspension, and for this reason the car skips around curves when it hits a rut in the pavement, and not having IRS causes less then remarkable handling...even my 1993 Civic DX handled better then our 2007 LB's.

Rare Disk Brakes would be great.

Better sound insulation so that the interior is much quieter.

Tachomoter for the Lift Back. Standard Fuel/Trip/Economy computer.

In summary:

1. Independent Rear Suspension
2. Rear Disk Brakes
3. Standard Tach & Trip/Economy meter

also: variable intermittent wipers, heated side mirrors, and more insulation in the engine firewall (one of the most intrusive engine noise in any car i've owned).

of course, some people will say that adding all this will raise prices ridiculously, but MOST of these items are options/standard for the yarii competition (fit and versa).

1. Factory turbo in the U.S. market
2. Get rid of that damn Toyota emblem zit that sits perched on the top of the grille and its accompanying half-eaten-sandwich-bite-mark on the bottom of the grille. Put the emblem in the grillework and I won't be yanking it off first thing. It's the only visually awkward spot on an otherwise great looking car.
3. Metallic orange paint option.

This is my wishlist pre-buying, as it's still the front runner in my search. I have found that vehicle specific forums are the best form of review out there to tell me exactly what to expect and what's available for them. If I buy, I'll definitely be sticking around this one, it's given me tons of information :D

heh... maybe #4 should be a URL to Yarisworld at the back of the brochure :D

Rear hatch release next to the fuel door release for the H/B should come standard.

Keep the basic Yaris pretty much as is with a budget price for first car buyers, but also consider making a sportier version available as well with just a little more power under the hood and more options to make it more competitive with the FIT. I like the body of the Yaris better than the FIT's, but the Yaris just needs a little performance improvement to be the perfect car.

I have three basic issues that I would want addressed that would not dramatically increase the cost of production:

1) A button that would allow me to lock my hatch before I close it so that I do not have to put my key in every time I close the hatch.

2) A slower rear wiper. I can never leave it on because it starts making too much noise; I wish that I could slow the stupid thing down!

3) A tach in each car.

1) rear 60/40 split seats standard on all Yarii
2) +1 on the rear wiper being too fast

Variable Speed Wipers
A better looking stereo head unit (at least have the illumination match the instrument panel) with standard auxiliary jack
Temperature Gauge

A lot of the above, plus one more...

A real gas gauge, one that doesn't have bars!

Cheers! M2
