Really really short. I need to jack up the car (onto stands of course), crawl underneath, and figure out the routing long before I take it to the muffler shop. There's a car stereo shop right next to them. I'm tempted to ask the installers if they'll run the cables on the side for cash.

Are the entry points on an AT the same as a MT?

yes, the same place. it should be a plate held by two bolts that the cable passes thru. my suggestion is to drill a hole in that plate, off to one side, and install a rubber grommet that you can put your wire thru.

while you're under the car, you wont' be able to see this plate without removing the exhaust heat shield. you should be able to unbolt it and slide it to the side past your exhaust and then you'll see the plate that is part of the shift cable.

I'm running an LM-1 with an exhaust pickup and it goes on the end of the tailpipe.... the only way it reads off is when it gets gas or water in there, or when there is free air. But at any exhaust flow it reads spot on.... I dont think installing it post-cat by accident will give you that drastic of a change in readings when at WOT

The further away your o2 sensor is, the slower the response time but I think it's ultimately fine wherever you put it. A lot of dynos mount the wide-band o2 sensor at the exhaust tips anyway.

that's for convenience and quick change-out. it's def not as accurate. most factory turbo cars put the o2 sensor within a foot of the turbo hotside outlet.

Not as accurate? Then that means almost all cars being dyno'd should have blown up already if the o2 sensor isn't accurate :) I had a dyno'd car that ran fine for 9 years (old Evo) and the o2 sensor was mounted on the exhaust tip on a Dynojet 248C AWD dyno.

Experts please do chime in as I myself want to know exactly how things work.

It's not an apples to apples comparison when you compare the o2 sensor in an OEM application to an o2 sensor that's a wideband, 5, 6, 7 wire sensor used for tuning.

The widebands are far more sensitive and I believe either operate at higher voltages or have better clarity reading in micro or mini-volts (whatever the correct term).

were you not aware that most turbo cars now have 5wire wideband sensors from the factory?

Thanks, now I have to find out how much the dealership wants for new ones so that I can tell whether this is a good price.

pretty sure you want to mount widebands close to the exhaust manifold or turbo as you can and not at the exhaust tip, because you get a more accurate reading that way...ive never heard of a serious tuner mounting it anywhere else

........... the first sensor is placed before the cat for one reason its hotter (these sensors need heat to activate all new sensors are preheated, but still the point is the same) the 2nd is placed after cat for Lambda calc, to check cat efficiency.

mounting a wideband post cat is like playing with yourself, the numbers are skewed as the unburnt fuel is burned and the excess 02 consumed.

I did not quite understand it. I did write to Yarisdarkness and asked him to contact Blitz engineering. I gave him the link to this thread so that he can download the text file.
