i don think it's a good idea either. IMO flashing lights is a bit too much. it's distracting to other drivers and some people find it offensive, even if they are doing something obviously wrong and dangerous like driving at night without beams on.

i know i get annoyed when people seem to be flashing their lights at me for no apparent reason. it's usually used as an indication you're doing some wrong and/or dangerous

That's funny, I just traded in the 97 TJ for an 09 Yaris, and I find myself waving to TJs all the time. The crazy thing is, they usually wave back!

Must ... stop ... waving.

Bikers look like they're giving a hand signal to brake when they do that.

I rode a Harley for decades, and I waved to everybody I saw on a bike. Lots of the Jap bike riders acted like they didn't see me, but I figured maybe they just couldn't take a hand off the bars and maintain control.

I always give a wave and/or a thumbs up when I can make eye contact with another Yaris driver. Very cool.. I also ride a sportbike and wave to most other bikes... Harley guys are usually too cool for school...

Funny, that is what we "Jap bike" riders say about the Harleys! Seems to be the opposite in reverse, as I wave to Harley riders all the time and at most get a return wave half of the time at best. But we always figure the bad vibration is causing their vision to blur so much that they can't see more than five feet ahead of themselves anyway. Luckily, Harleys are so underpowered that it isn't a safety issue for them...

Sometimes I wave a baseball bat out the window if someone cuts me off. That's how we do it in Norman. Gang-sta

^Crowbar in my town

Waving around here looks totally gay if you're a guy and you drive a small car. A smirk and a nod is plenty

Its the rare Harley rider who will return a wave so after a short time you just dont wave to Harley riders.Probably a lot of riders gave you the wave back but it was too late for you to see as it was an unexpected gesture on your part..The new wave seems to be a clenched left fist dropped below the handle bar ,easy to miss if you arent familiar with it.

Peace sign down low seems to be the most popular here. But I've seen all variations, open hand, fist and peace sign.

The low five is my favorite, but it's pretty much strictly a harley thing and since I wave to all bikes, I just keep the hand on the bar if I initiate the wave :)

I wave.

I have waved. It started with motorcycles, then the corvett and now I wave at cute little Yarises. Other bike riders most of the time wave back. I have Harley but it is the same when I ride my 1976 Honda 125 enduro, it makes me laugh as my 125 is so small but it has a headlight. Corvett bros wave back but no Yaris drivers they probably don't see me as they are not expecting it like Harleys and Corvetts. I need to get a taser and tase the Yaris buddies as I go by. I have lightning bolts on my Yaris as it is all electric.
