My wife gave up her BMW Z3 for a grandkid. Got a Honda CR-V. Not a mini van but it works for her.

I know you do love ur lil LB so id say try to save up a lil chunk of money about 2k and get u a used sedan at a auto auction or something it doesnt have to be nice as long as it fits ur whole family,
I am saying this cus its what i did, I dont have a big fam. but I wanted something to go and come to work so i didnt have put so many miles on my yaris so I only used my Yaris when going to local meets here and stuff like that

Having a kid when you cannot afford it is BEYOND the stupidest thing you can do. Thats why there are teen pregnancies.
And in the end its his grandchildren so he has no control over it, I wouldn't get rid of my car over my kids children though it's like trying to tell your dad his car sucks when it is HIS not YOURS so who cares. BUT you can always go to an auction buy a mini van for these things its what my uncle did. 1994 plymouth just needed new tires and it only has 80,000 kms lol whats wrong with it? Nada just the tires. You could always pay a AAA/BCAA mechanic an hour of 100$ to come with you at an auction and inspect a vehicle.

wait, you are going to ditch your car for 3 or 4 times a month at most?
dude just rent a car if it will be that infrequent, it is a heck of a lot cheaper. Oh, and keep a lookout for used minivans. the ubiquitous dodge/plymouth/chrysler minivans sell for about $2000 or less, and are pretty darn reliable.

Wait, if you are babysitting your grand-kids, why not just borrow the parent's car or "trade" rides for the day? They do have a vehicle that can fit 3 car seats right?

i don't know if the yaris sedan 'officially' has more backseat room, but having those rear doors really makes a difference with the carseats and such. you could keep all your mods and transfer them over to a used yaris sedan and maybe not have to pay too much extra depending on the mileage of your 3-door?

checked out rentals, a minivan is on the expensive side, like $80 a day on the cheapest near where i am.

![]() Yea, that's way too much... I really don't see any way to trade for any thing without losing lots of money, and no way to buy/rent a 2nd car with the money I make now... Basically, I really don't think we'll get rid of her... we'll just have to work it out.
