Thank you.
I think your concerns are justified, but no need to panic. I would certainly start doing something about it. Start dipping the oil every fill up. (do not check it anxiously three times a day as you will use lot of oil to the wiping the rag). I would do it in the morning with car parked on level ground. You can make a little scribe with sharp object on the dipstick to make sure you are not imagining things. Since you are at the oil change time, do an oil filter change, use Toyota OEM filter and use Toyota or better factory recommended oil, then start your test. Drive it for another 5 to 6K miles and then start asking questions.

Not sure what Toyota will do as they are giving themselves a large leeway in oil consumption. (1 liter per 1000k is a lot). 1 liter is usually a distance between two marks on the dipstick which in my car appears quite long. Your millimeters on the dipstick may not be as drastic as it appears.

Quote from owner’s manual.

Engine oil consumption
*The amount of engine oil consumed depends on the oil viscosity, the quality of the oil and the way the vehicle is driven.
*More oil is consumed under driving conditions such as high speeds and frequent acceleration and deceleration.
*A new engine consumes more oil.
*When judging the amount of oil consumption, keep in mind that the oil may have become diluted, making it difficult to judge the true level accurately.
*Oil consumption: Max. 1.1 qt./600 miles, 0.9 Imp.gt./600 miles (1.0 L per 1000 km)
*If you consume more than 1.1 qt. (1.0 L, 0.9 Imp.gt.) every 600 miles (1000 km), contact your Toyota dealer.

Let us know.

1l/1000km is pretty much a standard all automakers use. it's of course a ridiculous amount, just an excuse not to do warranty engine rebuilds.
The only cars that I am aware of that will routinely consume that much are high mileage h22 preludes. that engine is unique, though, because it uses fiber reinforced cylinder lining that is known to let oil sneak by.

Isn't the distance between disptick marks is more like 1.5 L on Yarii? seem to remember something odd like that.

Yes . 1.6 US quart per the 2011 owners manual. Might have been the same for the earlier Echo as well .

Only 6600 miles on the engine ? How many miles on this oil change and what brand/viscosity was used ?
