Yeah, they're total idiots for discussing the two cameras that new-yaris-owner mentioned when he started the thread:

I can't for the life of me figure out why they would be talking about those two cameras, can you, caineroad?

He is looking for a dash cam, not a sports camera. You guys know better gopro and contour are not designed to be used as a dash cam, they do not start automatically when car starts, they do not recycle the memory, and they cost a lot more(totally not worth it). So don't recommend them to others, unless you are stupid enough to not know other dash cam out there. You guys live in a world so small only know these two popular cameras. Let me ask you what other dash cam do you know off your head? I bet none.

And yes the OP mentioned the cameras at the beginning but he bought a 720p camera off ebay instead, which was wise. He is smarter than you two idiots, these two cameras are the worst for use as dash cams.

Just wondering if the BlackVue model can take up to 34g of micro memory stick?

ok, I'll (finally) take the bait. (sorry in advance, mods)

HEY DICKHEAD -- I use mine as a DASH CAMERA. I commute 20 minutes each way, which means the eight hour memory lasts me for two weeks of driving. It takes me exactly one minute to clear the memory and about once a month I have to charge it. ONE button. Seriously? You're going to flame because I have to push one button?

I have one Contour dedicated to this task, with a permanent slide-on mount on the dash for it. It's a dash camera, not a "sports camera".

And guess what? It's VERSATILE. I can slide it off, put it in my pocket, and use it for a hundred things a dash cam cannot be used for.

So before you go flaming and calling names, consider that the world is a lot bigger than the one YOU live in, "idiot".

I will now go report myself.

use whatever you want, i am suprised you only commute 20 mins each way every day and have nothing else to do otherwise. I dont have to charge it, mount it, clear the memory, push any button, i pay less and have much better vid quality. I only have to setup once and that's it, plain simple. I used to have something like yours where i need to do all of the above, it was too much of a hassle at the end so that's i opted for a dash cam. Exactly the same operation as a camera in a police crisuer. I dont understand why you have to show us how easy and versatile to operate your camera, because you will not win with a dediacted dash camera for the purpose of daily driving. A dash cam does not need to versatile lol, the memory card does! It's designed to stay in the car. I have much more to do in my life than commuting to work everyday.

-i am discussing this based on the subject of cameras, not personally. no intention to attack nor to insult other members.

But you call them (including me) idiots -- more than once.
That is an "intention to attack.. insult" to use your own words. Period.

I contributed my experience to the thread, as you did; hope it was helpful to the OP.

If you leave your dash cam in your car people will smash your window and steal it, so get a cam you can hide

The Blackvue is a good option... for 200-300$, you can have a lot of choices.

Here is mine DVR H190 720p : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agwpLOvGNIk&feature=plcp

turned out great, little too bright by moment, but for the price it is acceptable.
