wow do we really need that much CF for this car?!?! I'd say if you want something then hood(even though the carbon piec will probably weigh more), trunk(carbon may weigh a little less), and mirrors(this is probably the only thing I would purchase.)

There is a company on Ebay that already sells dash trim kits for the 2nd gen Yaris sedans. They have a wide range of color choices, including black, grey AND blue carbon fiber (add 20% to the price for the last three). Here is a link.

I'd say a well done CF hood for our car with nolex honeycomb core and no more than 3 plys of CF, if the resin is set up correctly, would net maybe a 3 lb weight reduction... 5 lbs maximum, the stock hood FEELS to me to be about 15-20 lbs, I'm thinking a CF part of that size would probably somewhere from 11-17 lbs.

I know we talked about OEM hoods for both the 3LB and the 4dr. However being the LB in our position at the moment that'll be the first one made.. plus we have a deadline for sema ;) ... 4dr we will do. Anyone want to donate a hood? Completing this before next year shouldnt be a problem. I'll check with our R&D guys to see what they can do. |
