Thanks.

Sprint announced they were discontinuing most of the benefits I had under the Premier account, so I have no incentive to upgrade early. I saw the EVO 3G (when it came out, Sprint offered an early upgrade for $50 but I declined because the difference between the 3G and the 4G doesn't seem significant enough to warrant signing for another 2 years.

I'll just wait. I bet by the time I'm out of contract, there will be all kinds of offering on all other carriers (or whoever is left). That Droid Bionic (on VZW) is pretty awesome already. Can you even imagine what they're going to offer a year from now?!

Lol there is already an upgraded version of the Sensation called the Xe but the only real diff is the 4gigs of internal...but something i read said only one gig is user accessable....

Maybe in a year the big 4 will go back to unlimited once they build up the infrastructures correctly.

<--- rooted, at long last. Running CM 7.1.

First impressions are pretty good , except the CM keyboard is even worse than the HTC Sense Keyboard!, and the camera controls take a little getting used to (they're a bit smallish for my fingers, and harder to see the HTC Sense ones).

Other than that, the device feels faster, lighter, cleaner interface. And I can tether which is a huge plus for me. So far, no regrets ;)

Can anyone recommend a better KB?

And BTW, Kioshi is right about reading up a couple of times ahead of time!! yes, the process is relatively fast, but what takes a fair amount of time is trying to figure out what you're doing before hand, but it's a necessary step, even if you have a friend helping you, only so you understand what's going on.

Found it for ya tomato!

htc hi-res and lo-res keyboard hacks

Just take a look through and see what works for you....if you have any questions p/m me or ask on here....btw my handle on xda is the same here :)

Btw jsut so it doesn't scare you, it doesn't get rid of your current keyboard, it's an additional keyboard. It installs as a .apk and you check mark it in keyboard options then long press in a text box and select input method.....

I'm reading up on rooting for my 2S. So far afraid to tackle it. CM looks like it has some features I want.

I'm a newb though - just started using voice commands, for example. :-/

Has anyone used or purchased the new Motorola Droid Razr? I'm seriously considering it to replace my 2 year old Blackberry Tour.

@Shroomster : thanks for the tips. I'll look for you on XDA then.

@Garm : will all the peeps you know down in Southern Cal, I find it hard to believe that someone will NOT volunteer to help you out in person! Throw in a meal or a few MI stickers and I'm sure people will line-up outside your doorstep! I found the videos on Youtube somewhat useful to see the commands and what happens, rather than just read directions. I mean follow the directions you got, but watch the videos to familiarize yourself with the process, the vocabulary. Still, best is still to have a geek friend come over and help you out!

@Astroman: check out Phonedog.com They have the most neutral advice and pretty much specialize on phone reviews. They also do "dog fights" (video comparisons between phones) and will tell you all you need to know, with a consumer-oriented slant. I used to follow Noah Kravitz's reviews on phonedog but now he's at Tech Buffalo. He's very neutral (does not write columns solely to advertise for phone companies!), and his advice is very sound.

@Garm :Also check out the unlockr website. Pretty easy to follow write ups on unlocking phones with videos outlining the process.

Sorry Shroomster for not getting back to you about the past post.

Its log files from HTC knowing what apps you use, when you use them, how often you use them, etc...and it applies not only to apps, but when you turn on your phone and of that sort.

Right now, they have the CIQ dilemma going on, which is similar to the above. ALthough HTC has been keen on giving the source code for the kernals of their latest phones..

Astroman - the phone is locked at the moment. the display looks vibrant on there compared to the Rezound.
I personally am waiting for the Galaxy Nexus, or at least see how BIG that thing is compared to an HTC Rezound....

I love my HTC Incredible, i hope they can get ICS running on it like CM7.

tomato - I am glad you rooted. F-Sense UI. Better battery life now. You should flash Chad's kernal for your phone, awesome fast charging and battery life.

Slightly better battery life ;) I guess using the camera all the time will drain the phone, no matter what I'm running. But no regrets! :)

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/2...-with-cm7-rom/

I realized, Chad has only an Incredible, there for his kernal is not available for the EVO.

Get ready, Ice Cream Sandwich is on its way ;)

there's a pretty advanced beta of ICS for the HTC HD2 (i.e. the phone that won't die), one of which I have on hand... time to give it a try tonight :D

The one for the HD is AOSP from source code :D But I can't get it to run, I think my system partition is too small...

Try redownloading the file again. A few Incredible phone users couldnt get ICS alpha build working as well. I hear great stuff about the hd2, wish i had it. That thing is a beast.

@ PK - there isnt any hardware accelerators in the ports...at least for incredible. Thats why its sluggish i think. But it can receive calls, browse web, text, and whatnot. I want the camera working at least.

Well, I just had a look at the Galaxy Nexus in person

http://www.phonedog.com/videos/samsu...review-part-1/

that thing is a BEAST !!!!! The size is right, it feels like a dream in the hand (despite the large screen size), it's light, it's lightening fast, the screen is gorgeous... Man on man, that could be the Android phone of the year.
