Nursing is a high stress profession. You get it from both ends - the Docs who can't write and hate to give definite orders, the patients who won't listen and get strange on you, and then families.

lol...it's not the part of being a nurse that I hate, I like that part, but the actual nursing program and the things they want us to do that I hate. There's a test called the "ATI" that my nursing program requires us to pass on a minimum level 2 of the 3 levels, whereas all of the other nursing programs that I know of doesn't even require their students to even pass the test. It's things like that I hate.

Where I went to Tech School we had to pass the FCC General Radiotelephone test. I couldn't graduate without it. The damn thing at the time was being phased out because Reagan liked privatization. Turns out that the license has survived him.

To get it I had to travel down to Baltimore, stay in a roach flat with a prostitute in the next room who "worked" all night long. I heard her earning her keep... We slept on the towels because the beds were kind of, well, crummy.

We also found roaches in the

Next day I sweated it out, taking all five hours to do it. Me and some guy who said he was "NSA" were the last to leave the room. I one of five guys out of twenty who got both the main and ship's radar in the same trip.

Today that bit of paperwork is just a point of distinction, but in a way it separates me from many other candidates. I can sign for RF stuff, they cannot. Opens doors for me to this day because I have legal rights that most folks do not have.

Don't regret having to pass a harder test. In the long run it pays off.

The ATI test does not do anything extra for nurses, which is why I think it's stupid =(

Now on the other hand some hummus, heavy on the garlic, is great on bread. So are oily anchovies right out of the can combined with pureed garlic. Spread the pureed garlic and top it with a couple of anchovies. Naturally this isn't good for the breath but a nice mint takes care of that.

Lately I've read that anchovies can carry toxiplasmosis so I've laying off of them but a good habit is hard to break.

Yep, Gene def lives in PA to be eatin like that. I'm a Uniontown, PA boy where if you walk into a pub or any joint, there is a jar of pickled eggs or pickled Herring on the edge of every counter...I'd make the trip to Gene's house just for the food

Uniontown? The capital of Fayette-Nam. I sometimes will go out towards Acme or down to Connellsville to visit friends. I also have some old friends down in Hopwood, which is close to Cambodia (West Virginia).

We're big on Oregano in sauces, garlic and onion. I don't recall pickled eggs, but down in Fayette-Nam life is different. I like it there because the folks are standup. Too far from my job for the commute.
