By the time it gets down to other people's music I hardly notice. I just find it funny that most people are so annoyed by something that affects maybe 10 seconds a week of their life, when so much more time is spent dealing with louder more annoying noise, most of which isn't necessary, just convenient.
Like I said, I've seen the listen-to-my-window-rattling-radio reaction before when I rev the harley to drown out their music, and they're never happy about it

So again ... I'm not surprised, but a bit delighted to see that the street don't go both ways there.

I usually only crank it on the highway, in traffic, or if I need to cover up someone else's music at a stop light.

EDIT: Led Zeppelin always gets cranked, regardless of where I am (except residential zones) and who's next to me.

You're brave, and Led Zeppelin is even braver, god, you guys totoally don't care about the cops? Covering up someone else's music at a stop light must be even blamed by more people around!

I'll drop it a bit if I see a cop, but only if I'm stopped.

I'm sure the argument "but... it's Zeppelin!" would at least merit a warning from some cops.

My thoughts...

You can have him questioned by the police for harassment, even if he didn't actually touch you. Just threatening someone like that is considered a violation of your rights. In the same token, 98 db is the limit, so if your system goes above that, maybe figure out where 98db is, and just stick to that as the maximum, unless you are out on an empty road.
Now, as far as the other guy goes, I would have walked up to him and broken something on his car because I have anger issues, but you should have told him off at least. And that isn't cool at all, threatening someone for a loud stereo. He could have just reported you and have been done. Happened to me once, when I got caught racing someone, and they said I was clocked at 105 mph (in a 55 zone). The cop who clocked me wasn't allowed to drive to where I was (different counties, I think), so I was released with a warning to NEVER speed again, or they would take my car and my liscense.
Anyways, just watch out for that other guy, and if you see him again, take his plates off or something, then call the cops anonymously and reprt his car and location. Payback is a (female dog).

Good idea! But it's easier said than done. Changing the world is difficult, sometimes we can only change ourselves! That's the reality!

Not just harrassment, but assault as well.

Assault = Threatening to hit someone.
Battery = The moment your fist makes contact.

Sometimes some kids will drive by you and the car will shake from the vibration of the speakers. They will be deaf soon enough !

Loud music can cause lung collapse:
http://newsmine.org/content.php?ol=n...mage-lungs.txt

Loud bass can cause heart perforations:
(still searching for source)

Loud music can increase blood pressure and heartrate:
http://www.colorado.edu/eeb/courses/...%202006/16.htm

It's not just hearing loss... I'd be careful.
