I warmed them up with a hairdryer and used fishing line. Used my finger nail and the hair dryer to take the extra adhesive off and then some WD-40 and a paper towel for the last little bit.
Chris, you got a link to that 3M fine cut compound? hmm....google... |

I have micro fiber cloths already. I use them on my dash, to dry the car, and for the ICE.

Maybe you got the paint too warm and the fishing line damaged the finish? I haven't heard many good words about the paint on these cars coming from the factory. It is very thin and easily scratched.
Keep in mind the warmer it is the easier it will be to remove and vice-versa. |

sounds like the heat + nail did it.
the paint is notoriously soft. |

Well crap, I'll try to get it out sometime in the near future. Starting school on the 2nd and too much going on during New Year's.

i shaved mine. may i recommend using your nails and thumbs to remove the sticky glue. brake parts cleaner, throttlebody cleaner, and wd 40 work great for loosening up the tape, but all of those are hard on paint, so i havent used them since i learned that they can harm your cars paint.
also, you dont need a heat gun to take them off. it takes more time, but you can slice through the glue even in 30 degree weather(i know cause i just did mine)...it just takes more patience and 10lb fishing line.

AGAIN this DIY is not the BIBLE when it comes to doing this.. each person will have different ways / experiences when doing it. Its only ment to be a guide, and show one of the many ways it can be done.
Good luck, be careful! |

lol going through all this write up and all i did was pull mine off with my fingers, no residue, no scuffing of paint, took about 2 minutes for both emblems i suggest try it if you dont feel like using a blow dryer

I think if your car is new and that glue hasn't had time to cure its pretty damn easy.
And el steverino, you're 17... you're not a chef yet, just a cook. Hehe. |
