So glad I clicked on this thread. I'll have to check the video out at home as no sound on work pc. Awesome project, i'd never think of turning a crashy into a snow plough. Well done.

This weekend I replaced Crashy's bent right axle and lower suspension arm with ones that I picked up from a local junk yard, to get her ready for her new tires that are on the way.
Suspension Arm: Axle: Tripod joint (notice the two missing rollers from when the axle got yanked out): |

Awesome pics.
Those parts must be pretty hard to bend, especially the axel, I'd think!

Yah, I love the pictures too. They're VERY helpful in trying to understand what you're doing to the car, what the parts are, etc.. Awesome thread, CTScott. Thank you for posting all these updates.

I can't believe that the axle bent without cracking the tranny. The axle is solid. Also, the lower arm was bent about 4" further than it is now. I used a 12 ton jack (after popping a 4 ton one) to get that bent back to where it is (which is about 3/4" off from where it should be). It's two pieces of stamped steel welded together, but it is heavy gauge steel.
