Actually, although Psych is suppose to be in Santa Barbara, CA it is actually filmed in Canada; hence the Canadian specs Yaris.

The odd thing about the Yaris showing up on Psych is that the car is owned by Gus, and Gus is the one who drives it, but in certain shots, (similar to the one pictured), Shawn is show on what would normally be the driver's side of the car in the US... So it makes me wonder...

Cause my other vehicle is a truck and I needed something that got great fuel mileage, still had room for my saddles etc... and was as cute as a bugs ear.

Three and a half years ago (my story starts way back then) i owned a 2000 Ford escort zx2. when i graduated college and started my full time career i had the money to replace the aged (and broken) escort with something i hoped would be more reliable.

spring 2007 is when i started looking for a replacement, and i had seen the yaris commercials on TV, had seen several LB's running arround town, and finally (after calling the dealer a hundred times) managed to catch a LB on the lot before the car was delivered to its owner.

the local dealer is the ONLY toyota dealer in the region (south central alaska) and they were only getting a trickle of Yarii.

once i drove the car that one time, i knew that was my car. price was too high tough (these were fully kitted out ones they were getting $15K+) and the salesman told me they would not be getting any of the stripped out ones i had read about. so i left, heartbroken.

i wound up with a VW Jetta TDI (another car i had wanted forever) what a rolling TURD! in the 2 years i owned that car i replaced: Battery, Timing belt (30K miles early), water pump, clutch, flywheel, and was getting ready fora tear down of the injection pump. thousands of dollars burned on that POS.

one day last december, that jetta stranded me at work for the third time in a week. once i got it started i drove home, changed, and went straight to toyota. 2 hrs later i had my shiney new '09 LB the stripped out base model, paid in full.

i love the looks, mileage, handling, and the fact that its not very common up here.

that was a long write up. but i have a need to set up my stories.

We should have gotten together, and put my replaced throttle body, complete air filter(old one would hydrolock in car wash), suspension mounts, drive axle, engine mounts, transmission mounts, plus all your new parts, and just built a new Jetta

HAH! that would have been awesom. kinda sad though that people can make that joke about a late model year vehicle in this day and age.

those jettas were junk. i dont think i can own another VW.

now if we could just get the d-4d yaris here in the states...........

In early Feburary 2009, 3 months after making my last payment, my 2003 Hyundai Accent was totalled when it was hit from behind by a Dodge truck. I got offered a little over $5000 for it from the insurance company, which I took but when I accepted it, my rental car was cut off.

I looked online and found the Yaris one of the 3 new cars in my price range and my wife kept telling me how great Toyotas were(I've owned 3 Ford and Hyundai), plus I saw what kind of mileage it got, so I hit a few lots here on a Sunday and found a Yaris in my price range equipped the way I wanted it(plain jane, with the only options being A/C, stereo, Floor Mats, power nothing, 5spd.), and it was the cheapest brand new car I could find in town.

I went back the next day and test drove that very same Yaris(white with gray pinstripes) and kind of made the salesman nervous when I said I hadn't driven standard in 13 years. I liked the car, they had a rebate deal, plus my credit union gave me a good rate(4.9%), so I put the $5K down on it and picked it up the next day.

I've been driving it for almost 10 months and it's a great little car. It's fun to drive and gets great mileage. People in parking lots sometimes ask me what it is and ask me about it, and I give it a big thumbs up. The center speedometer takes some adjusting to, and it's a little short on trunk space if you don't put the back seat down but overall, It's a great little car. My attorney got me a settlement for my pain/suffering from the accident, and put that into the car as well, so it will be paid off in 2 years.

I like this little car and plan to drive it for a long time.

+1. I had another reasonable car before I wrecked it. Seeing as how that was my 4th used car and my 2nd wreck, I decided it was time to just finally suck up the idea of having a car payment and get a new one. I drove a Versa for a month as a rental and though it was nice, but decided on a Yaris after much research. The 40 MPG rating is what sold me. Haven't looked back since.

- Best in class MPG

- Bullet proof reliability

- Best styling in class

- Cheaper than Fit (one of the other top contenders)

- Lowest cost to own short term and long term.

- Character (hard to define but it's there)

+1, this was a major point in my decision to get it. I love small cars and I love hatchbacks.

One of the last SIMPLE cars left. Lightweight, barebones (if you want it to be), and cheap.

Cars are getting to damn big and overloaded with crap. Give consumers the option to buy a basic car. Crank windows, manual trans, etc...

why i bought a yaris?

my girlfriend has a 2008 yaris hatchback with 5 gears multimode transmission.
i am used to drive a manual-transmission car (my mom's) but when i saw the multimode (called "robotic" transmission in Israel) i fell in love with it.

the car doesn't "drink" gas..israelis love toyota and japanese car and they stick to them like gold because of it's proven reliability.if someone decides to sell it,it's bought in a matter of days.

plus,it's beautiful
