Look at these specs

e now official specs are as follows:

* CPU speed: 1 GHz (Snapdragon processor)
* Platform: Android™ 2.1 (Éclair) with HTC Sense™
* Memory: ROM: 512 MB, RAM: 576 MB
* Display: 3.7-inch AMOLED touch-sensitive screen with 480 X 800 WVGA resolution
* Onscreen navigation: Optical joystick
* GPS
* Sensors: G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor
* Connectivity: Bluetooth® 2.1, Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, micro-USB (12-pin micro-USB 2.0)
* Camera: 8 megapixel color camera with auto focus and flash

1 ghz would be the deciding factor for me. I'd wait for the Incredible, it's not that far off.

no, it's not

i don't understand why they feel the need to stick an 8MP camera in there, though. I have a 12 MP Canon and hardly *ever* shoot at full 12 MP.

I wonder what kind of battery life that thing gets. ??

IMO (and I could be totally wrong, mind you) we're gonna see an exponential growth of apps in the Android market in the near future. It sure looks that way:

[btw, Thomas, I was wrong about the live wallpapers. The US update included them as well (you have to set them up manually, though, they're hidden) ;) ]

whoa ... 6 votes for the Incredible, really? wow... food for thoughts!
Can't wait to see how much that thing is gonna cost and what plans it's gonna be tethered to at VZW.

You probably already know about this site, but if not check out http://www.xda-developers.com/ go to the forum and search for Snapdragon. You'll probably get some good info on the battery life of similar handsets.

I just spent some time looking though the latest market free apps additions (no access to the paid apps over here...), half of it is crap... wallpaper collections, random pictures that pop up after you complete a call, etc... quantity over quality :p

Very true, because of how open the Android market is it's flooded with crap apps.

Although I have high hopes now that Apple has made a requirement on their app store that apps must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++. I hope that new ridiculous restriction will push more developers to Android and WebOS.

I voted wait for the Incredible/Evo. The Evo is my next phone, assuming my work gives me one. (Which they will. )

Thanks, Altitude. PK told me about that site, too, a lot of information there

I forgot about the HTC Desire, which, to be honest, appeals to me more than the N1 because it has an optical trackpad instead of a trackball, android 2.1 and HTC Sense UI on top of it (out of the box), adds flash support, same specs, physical buttons at the bottom. It actually looks like a more refined N1

This is a really exciting time to be looking for a new phone.

can't wait for the beta testers to render their initial verdict! ;)

I'm so lazy.

I've decided to wait until you buy one -- then buy whatever you get.

you've waited so long, might as wait a little bit longer. I would lean to verizon since their network is amazing. its the only reason i've stuck with the garbage phones they've had forever. No other network can compete.

For the places I go, Sprint is better coverage.

When my Palm Pre breaks, I'll get something else -- but Sprint has NEVER had the coolest phones.

You're right, VZW is rock solid in SF.
I have a feeling the Sprint network is catching up (in coverage, not necessarily customer service ;) but that could be changing

There is a coverage by carrier map (in Beta) at CNET if you want to check coverage of the 4 carriers in your area:

http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phone-coverage-map/

as if it wasn't difficult already to pick a phone, you've also got to pick the best network, the best plan ... pffffff

Well, that could be changing. The EVO is coming. Rumor has it, EVO is supposed to be the BEAST compared to the other phones on the market (kind of like your Yaris compared to our Yarii ) The BlackBerry T is supposed to be heading there as well. They still have the Hero and the Samsung Moment which are pretty good phones.
