Got porn? Get an Android phone, said Steve Jobs
So Steve isn't happy lately, we know, we know.
Now he reportedly said '“Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone.“ Read more: http://techcrunch.com/2010/04/19/ste...#ixzz0lgDPfPMY What do you think about that? |

I think should Apple reserve the right to restrict whatever they sell/advertise in their app store. Just like a clothing store could decide to not carry really offensive shirts simply because they find them offensive. The store is their business and they can run it as they please.
If there are non-iTunes ways (I don't have one, bear with me) to put stuff on your iPhone, then Apple should have zero say in what people put on their actual device. They can call themselves the "moral authority to keep porn off iTunes" but not the "moral authority to keep porn off the iPhone". Also, referring to other products in the sense that they would better suit low-brow people is not really cool. |

He's just butt hurt that Android is gaining popularity. I hope Apple plunges back to the deep hole which it came from, it's overrated (imo). I mean really, who wants to pay for something that the company wants you to ONLY do, and nothing more....I'm rebellious and the Android platform seems ideal for me...I will get an Android phone just waiting on a certain application to had in it.
I live in America, my parents came here for freedom...and ideally, I'd like to continue to be here with having that freedom in something I've spend my hard earned money on. Keep in mind, i admire Apple's sleek simple design as a studying Industrial Designer, but the popularity they gained as a "first in the market" has slowly died down...they need to give someone else the ball to shoot through the hoops~ Last edited by Kioshi; 04-20-2010 at 08:42 PM. |

Anywho, Steve has a point! The Android App store is 80% complete garbage. It's so funny that we have Apple on one side with an iron fist on application approval, and then Google on the other with such an open app store that you can essentially code an app that'll mess up other parts of the phone's operation and put it up for sale almost immediate. Sad that neither one are learning from each other to find some middle ground in regards to their app store policies. |

IMO anyone who needs a porn app. obviously doesn't know there are mobile porn sites already available. It's a waste of time and phone memory to get one.
But then again I could care less. At the rate technology's going, all people will soon be completely screwed in the head in no time. Just look at what texting is doing to kids... Quote:
Jobs is just a corporate attention whore, so naturally he'd be pissed about his market niche looking the other way. And as far as I'm concerned, all apps. have the potential to screw-up your phone. I myself had to reset my phone because of errors with Google Maps, and the closest thing to porn on that is looking at Florida at a certain angle. He's just mad with power thinking the tech world revolves around his company. Gates too.

Apple is just drinking a lot of Haterade right now, and I can't say I blame them. I would be doing the same thing if I were them. |

Who even cares about porn apps when there are numerous porn sites (with phone supported video). And these sites host more porn than you could watch in a lifetime - absolutely free!

^ That may be but IMO that's a terrible option.
The point of a mobile app store is to make ease of downloads to your phone. Having to double check whether or not an app is a solid application that doesn't do anything it's not supposed to just complicates the ease of downloads. It would be nice to have Google at least have some support for their application store in so far as doing a bit of overseeing of some of the applications loading into the Android app store because in the end the consumer is not going to blame the developer for a crappy application, they're going to point to Android in most cases. (I've already seen it to a certain extent, since there's a few task killers out in the app store that kill critical system process causing system instability, and the blame unfortunately ends up being placed on Android) Really it's not that the Apple App store has less shovelware, it's that there's more quality applications from companies versus basement developers, something that I hope will change as Android gains more market. |
