My first mod. Thule rack (kayak)
Thule 480 footpacks, and fit kit 1427. Installation was easy once I found a youtube video of install, and then the instructions made sense, just a little fine tuning of the provided measurements was required. Going fishing in the morning. I did a little test drive and things seem stable around my quiet town: where I launch is less than1/2 mile from house. I'll attach the provided bow and stern ropes before taking out on highway (is there a front attachment point im missing besides that stupid removable eye thingie?). Don't waste your money on the lock cores, all they lock are flimsy plastic covers that seem easier to break than opening the lock with the key. You can remove the tightening levers to make it a little more theft/vandal proof. AND: I lied, it is my second mod... this was the first. |

I love seeing little cars do the job of a larger vehicle. Have fun fishing.

loveeeee roof racks :)
Your at an advantage with 4 drs, I cant carry a kayak on my 2dr hatch without an extension piece :p and I believe the only good place to tie down is using the provided tow hook .... you may risk damaging the front bumper if you wrap the straps around..... as you do with the back strap.

I had the OEM optional roof rack on my '93 Saturn. Never used it, but it was low profile aero desing that looked cool so I left it on. Not to mention it was permanantly drilled into the roof so I had no choice really.
Looks pretty scary, hope the car does'nt blow away! JK, go fish!

Yar1s, I bought the 4 door because I needed them for the kayak. The extension only gives you 15" of bar spread, not enough for a kayak.

That is cool. add that to the list of things our little cars are capable of.
