Cold damp environments create fog INSIDE. There are products specifically for anti fog inside.

Exactly, Fog-X works great. Rain-X works great on repelling rain... on the outside of the window.

I was young and stupid! I smoked back then, and I suppose I thought it would help clean the insides of my windows easier with the no-stick properties. I will never forget the extreme fogging it caused ! Like I said, It was around 15 years ago.

U guys! Glad I could help someone.. to get rid of the fogging (if ur talking bout when u first apply it to windshield), you spray a bit of water on the windshield after you rainx it and wipe in circular motions. I just used an empty body spray bottle. It does not 'wipe off' the rainx. Hope this helps.

Has anybody tried this stuff made by Nanofilm: Clarity® Defender Automotive Glass Treatment? Some say it's better than Rain-X because it doesn't have to be reapplied as often.

I use Invisible glass on my car and around the house (e.g. windows mirrors) but I also suggest I use it on the paint until its used up(black) and then decommissioned to the windows. it gets alot of grit off the windows you can only see under certain conditions. You can tell when your washing your car and the water 'sticks' to the window where the wiper doesn't swipe. (Rain-X and the such also help the window resist collecting this grit since it acts like a wax protectant)

First time I ever used rain X I was driving 500km back home in the middle of the night during one of the worst rain storms ever when the wipers quit working on my 78 camaro. Original windshield too so it was pitted pretty bad and held the water like crazy. Even in a light rian I had to have my wipers on fast.
I stopped at a Husky truck stop and asked a few fols about local garages that could fix my old pile the next morning. One trucker told me to use rain x that the store sells because he never uses his wipers in heavy rain, it just beeds off.
I bought a small bottle and tried it. I parked under the covered pumps and put a couple coats on my windshield. The second rain hit the windshiels I could see the difference.
Getting back onto the highway was still a treat with no wipers at all but once I got up to 60kph it was perfect.
I drove all the way home in the dark and never needed the wipers once.

I've used it from that day on every car and even my motorcycle visors.

I always use RAIN-X on my cars. It seem to be a kind of invisible wax for the windshield glass who make the rain rolling little pearls.

You probably ought to qualify your question with your location. In Las Vegas we get maybe 3" of rain a year. We are currently running very dry. Buy some wipes and stash them in a cool place. I redo mine every 4 months, especially if a strong soap is used to wash windows. It's more likely that when it does rain here your wipers will be shot, UV with 300+ days of sunshine fries them very quickly. Worry about UV damage first. IMNSHO

it works great, just like regular hand-buffed rain-x

BUT it leaves streaks where the drips roll off on the side windows, so you just have to wash those off if you care

I used to love the rain-x windshield washer fluid on my blazer... but then I started to notice that it leaves a film around your winshield (where it "over spills" and dries on your hood+roof). So for summer time I apply it by hand, but this winter I will be using the rain-x de-icer windshield washer fluid; as it kicks arse

yup, same here. I do a hand rub once or twice a year, and use the orange fluid rest of the time


peeps gotta know if you use rain-x hand-rubbed you have to buff the bezeejus out of it to work out the swirls...but it is time well spent

Several years ago I got a decent deal on Aquapel. But before applying it I searched forums for opinions. Several people mentioned that their windshields chipped more easily after applying. Some guy even had a theory about why Aquapel caused a weakening of the glass. I ignored it thinking it was merely circumstantial. I applied the Aquapel and sure enough I got a lot more chipping on my windshield. (Oh, how I hate trucks on the highway who let their load of dirt and stone fly all over the place.) Yes, it could have been chance for me, too.

But now I just stick with Rain-X window washer fluid and I have never been happier.

in my area, people lift the wiper blades when leaving the car under the sun for a long period. This prevents the rubber blade from touching and drying up from the heat of the windshield. i guess that prevents wiper blades from getting replaced too often. who else is doing this?

Aquapel lasts 4-6 months and is unbelievable. You can get it for less than $10 a treatment. If you do the math, its less money than rain-x and a heck of a lot less time, attention and effort. It also doesn't fog-up/haze-up like rain-x.

I picked up a container of Rain-X wipes on sale at an autoparts store for under $10.00 a couple years back. I've done my car twice, the wifes Escape once and given some away to co-workers. There is still plenty in that container.
One wipe does the windshield and couple side windows. Two wipes does all my sedan windows and mirrors. The treatment lasts for more than six months.
I love driving on the highway without needing my wipers during rain. The water just bounces off and away over the roof.
