Suggestions?
Basically my parents just bought me one of these, its pretty plain, nothing done to it. It's pretty much a blank canvas, anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it first? Bodykits, engine modifications, etc. Anything.

I say work on suspension before anything, better handling and such, and besides cars looked better when dropped with some nice rims, go with white or bronze rims, my yaris has almost a similar color, a dark type of blue.

No need to replace those rims. People over here would be tripping over themselves to get some of those. Focus on suspension work.

Yeah i'm going to lower it a good bit, not too sure how much though, going to tint the back windows too.
What's so good about the wheels that are on the car now? |

I think these wheels look good and fit the car very well. Just lower it a bit and i'll look fine.
PS: One center cap is missing. |

Yeahh I noticed the center cap, I was lookin at bodykits too, most of them look pretty sweet but I doubt i'll be jumping into putting a bodykit on straight away.

It all depends what you want, but personally suspension is a must #1 mod, after that you can go whatever direction you want to do performance before cosmetic go for it vise versa.

When i first got my car i did all suspention mods. Becomes addicting. But its more fun that way to watch your car evolve. Sure you can make your car look good but its more enjoyable making it more fun to drive. Id look at some new springs/shocks and some bracing/swaybar.

Yeah so first priority is to lower it, but by how much? - Shouldn't I get wheels first before I lower it?

Welcome to the forums.
You should check the wheel diameter before you lower the car. Check the official wheel+tire guide for more tips. You should also check other parts of the forums, such as some of the regional ones. Some latin american countries have lots of older-gen echos with good mods. FWIW, I think you should definitely keep those wheels. .02

yeah that's on the to-do list aswell lol, i've been looking for them too but they're hard to find, even yaris RS seats? Where do you suggest I buy them?
Edit; Right, as I said this is my first car, so how do I know what kind of wheels to put on it? I'm currently looking at these; CLICK I was thinking 18 inch and in white? I really don't know what the rest of that crap means, maybe if someone could translate it into english? That would be great. @ Above tk-421, thanks for the welcome mate, pleasure being here, seems a great community. Last edited by Xodarap; 06-22-2010 at 04:56 PM. |

18" for a first generation Yaris is way too large in diameter. It will result in many mods to your body to avoid rubbing issues. And of course it will make your car slow.

So what would be the maximum, say 17 inch? And in my opinion the car really does need something doing to the body, in all fairness it looks like a mini people-carrier, but still I love it, I was thinking this bumper> http://www.stxstyling.co.uk/StxStyli...t.php?pnum=370 - but then again i'm better off going to a local bodyshop so I get it there and then, no waiting for things to deliver, so the list is so far;
1. Wheels 2. Lowered? 3. Sunstrip ;) 4. Seats ... Next!? :D |
