Cosmetic Mod Suggestions
Hey guys!
I just recently decided that I'd like to modify my car, however power mods are pretty much out of the question for financial and practical reasons. I've already done a lot of research on carbon fiber wrapping and this weekend I'm planning to purchase a kit, but I'd like to see what else is out there! I've seen a few yaris owners replace their clusters for ones that include tacs, and that's kind of neat looking. Post some pictures, I'd like to see what you guys have done to your cars! The inspiration is appreciated :D p.s. I apologize for the lack of pictures on my part, I have a red 2008 HB everything stock. Hopefully I'll be able to get some up soon after I give my baby a bath. |

What's your budget, as even performance mods can be cheaper than cosmetic or at the same price level?

Well let's see. Any individual mod under $250 I might consider. Know of any place I can get used body kits? Is that even a good idea? Probably not.

Some of us have pics in garage over there
<--------------------------- Good place to get ideas. Don't bother looking at mine though, so far I've only tinted, removed wheel covers, and swapped deck. Also, cardomain is a good place to check out pics as well, and there is a pic thread on here in galleries too.

I know of no "used" place to get body kits for our vehicle.....BUT, I do know of someone that has an S lip kit sitting in theri garage looking for a home. I'll get with them and see what the price is they are asking for it and let you know.

You could source some used lowering springs for under 250...that'd do a lot to improve look of vehicle...

most of those will void

While that may be true in FL, it depends on your state laws concerning warranties. For instance, in VA, the warranty is only void on a particular part, not in general. For instance, if you were to change your exhaust and something went wrong, the exhaust would not be covered, but general warranty is still in effect. You can also get around it by having dealership install approved parts. Everything I mentioned comes in a TRD (except header) and can be installed and warrantied @ dealership. Again, I don't know Texas law, you'd have to check with someone familiar with TX.

The warranty for TRD parts installed by a Toyota dealership is 12 months or 12,000 miles. So it is independent of the warranty on the car unless you had the parts installed by them before taking delivery of the car when you bought it new. Two different dealers have recently told me this. As stated, though, going this route would at least not void any existing coverage on specific parts.

In the state of Texas, in order to void the warranty, you need to prove that the part you installed caused the failure.
I just got a brand new transmission in my bolted SpecV :)

As far as cosmetic mods go, I would recommend eyelids and a spoiler. Click here for pics on both:

tk your such a promoter of your product, i agree with tk... wait until your out of warranty for any engine mods if you are worried about it, you know, incase something does happen

There is nothing that basic bolt ons will screw up.
Not a fan of those eye lids, but the spoiler is quite tasteful. Babe, here's what I'd do (as far as cosmetic mods) Front lip (wrapped in carbon fiber) Hatch spoiler Maybe wrap some interior panels in CF. Maybe some good stiff springs Other than that, I'd leave it till you can get a car with more 'go' potential. We need to get you into something RWD

I'm on the fence about the spoiler. Cosmetically it looks very nice...but practically? I mean come on. I have a slight problem with impracticality but I guess I need to get over that if I'm going to modify my Yaris haha. I love my Yaris, but really?
