detachable steering wheel

my buddies car got stolen today so i was thinking of putting more antitheft measures in my car. i already got a 2 way pager alarm but im thinking thats not enough, so i was thinking of getting a detachable steering wheel. anyone know any good systems out there? im thinking momo since i dont want to spend that much but have good quality products.

Ya know, I was thinking of the same thing.
Dunno if I'd wanna let go of the driver side airbag, though...

Please post pics if you end up doing this!

If they really want to steal it they will. They will tow the car away.

Off subject somewhat-I haven't even bothered to put an alarm on mine at least yet anyway. Never stopped anyone from breaking into my passed cars.

and I personally think low jack is bull shit

i to this day do not like airbags. if anyone has ever self detonated an airbag before you know why. we detonate any airbags that have to be shipped out for defects etc. and they sound like a m-80 when they explode. we had a few shoot a good 20 ft in the air basically im just saying it makes you think a little bit when your sitting in front of the steering wheel.
im not going to argue with government safety standards, but seatbelts are good enough for me...

low jack IS bullshit... my friend used to install them when he first moved to florida. very easy to disable, anyone with half a brain can do it. and like said above if someone wants the car they will take it. for every system designed to prevent theft, there is someone smarter who knows how to defeat it, simple as that... and as far as the removable steering wheel goes, i know plenty of people who have simply used a large vise-grip to steer the car. believe me when i say its all been done before.

but it will at least deter away some kind of theives. nothing is 100% theft proof but at least it buys more time and some will just steal that integra next to the yaris.

Case in point...A mechanic in Kansas got a Brand New Rousch Mustang. Thieves broke in one night to steal the mustang, but found that they couldnt get the heavy duty aluminum door open to get teh mustang out. So they just rammed the door over and over until they broke through. Mechanic found pieces of the body kit all over the shop when he came in the next day. I dont think it matters what you do. If a thief wants your car they will find away.

Steal my Car PLEASE, Thats what insurance is for, we now pay gap insurance, so in my mind i already paid enough for a replacement- come and get it! Its a yaris, not much to it, it may feed a family for about two months and/or support a drug habit for about a week. you might get some good money for the wheels and stereo. anytakers my car still has airbags you can sell them on ebay- j/k

OK back to the removeable steering wheel- would that mean you will be walking around with steering wheel hanging off your key chain every time you park your car? THAT SUCKS!
