FC RX7 Track car project.

I've had the car for a couple months now, and have just been doing some maintenence and suspension/chassis upgrades to get the car fully sorted out before I put an LS1/T56 and a roll bar in it later this year.

It is an 86 NA car with a streetport, full exhaust and intake. It is on coilovers, with all solid suspension bushings.

Do you do halfshafts/CV joints as well? I will be putting a Cobra IRS 3rd member in the car and need custom halfshafts.

what rear end are you going with? will it be flanged input or yoke?

my current project is a 1st gen RX7 with a fully built 2JZ (automatic) in it.. the guy is a paraplegic thus the auto trans. gonna be a ridiculously fast car :D

The Cobra rear will have the OEM pinion flange. I was planning to use a Cobra alumnium driveshaft and have it shortened and balanced or have a custome one made up. I'll drop you a line when the time comes.

I wouldn't even really need hubs. just a halfshaft that could connect to the Cobra CV on the inside and the RX7 on the outside. I still need to gather a bit more info on the RX7 side.

IMO aluminum isn't worth it.. especially in a relatively short driveshaft.

Very clean fc you got there man ! looks pretty good so far , Imo I'd just keep modding the suspension and rock that stock motor till it kicks the can. Ls1 is a tried and true motor but really kills the track balance of the Fc , and will put you into the unlimited class in most road/track/auto-x events. I'm a fan of the fc/ls1 swap but it really makes the car more of a sleeper drag/high speed straight-away car .

Not really... the LS1/t56 is about 20lbs heavier then the turbo rotory and tranny. It does not mess up the balance hardly at all.
