Hows That Antenna In A Car Wash?
Id like to take my 2009 Yaris 3 door Hatch through the car wash but wonder about the antenna on the middle rear of the roof. Will it go through the car wash OK? Does it come off? Thanks!

You can unscrew it off by turning it, so just take it off before you take it the car wash and put it back on after.

I think the thing bends every which way, so it'll survive a car wash. I went through one of those oldschool-spinny-hit-your-car-with-tons-of-crap ones, and it was ok. We don't have those super long metal ones anymore, so I'd assume its ok.

i tend to use the brushless washes when I don't hand wash mine. I went though one with brushes once (I sorta forgot about the lightning rod on the roof) and i could hear it banging around so I avoid those kind.

It takes two seconds to unscrew it, and two to put it back. If that's too hard, then just don't wash the car

Here it is washed and waxed as good as its ever going to get! I never realized how hard it is to photograph a black car before. Try as I might I could not tget the background exposed right. I think it would be better with overcast conditions.

Yeah, I took my Yaris to the car wash ONCE and they managed to break a little piece from inside, I sure don't konw where that little piece comes from. So from now on, it's hand-wash as long as I can help it.

i always take my car to the car wash but, those that hand wash prior to it going into a series of sprays...no machine parts ever touch the car...i like them because i can get tire and exterior dressing in addition to a series of foam waxes...makes it look ridiculously clean in exchange for twenty bucks and thirty minutes, rather than saving the twenty and spending hours in the sun doing it myself...i actually don't even have a place to wash it myself considering i live in an apt complex...i always get the cherry scent too, SO BOMB! lol
on the antenna note, it's never been a prob because again, i take it to hand wash car washes...one time, one of the car was dudes actually unscrewed it for me just in case...in case what, i don't know but, either way, thought that was kinda thoughtful of him haha... |

If you feel like playing around with your camera, there is software around that will combine several photos together (overexposed & underexposed) to produce one correctly exposed photo. The technique is called HDR (High Dynamic Range). Google HDR if you're interested.
