Repair stone chips on door
I had my car parked and when I came back I found some stone chips, particularly on one of the doors. The colour of the car is glacier pearl which is a 3 stage paint. The local dealer said they'll have to respray the entire panels and also neighboring ones (to blend it). The car is almost brand new and I'm hesitant to have entire panels resprayed just for these stone chips.
The damage on the door can be seen in the photo, right next to the flash. Is it worth having the panels resprayed? Are there any risks involved? Or would it be better to use touch up paint? |

Worth it? That's a decision for you to make. I can tell you that touch-up paint is a lot cheaper than a respray. I would start there. See if you like the results before spending the extra coin on a paint job. And remember it's going to happen again. It's inevitable. The road is a harsh environment. I know, it sucks. That first scratch, chip, dent is the worst.
As far as touch-up paint I have had very good results with Dr. Colorchip: https://www.drcolorchip.com |

+1 on using Dr colorchip. If the chip is deep, it is difficult to remove but it can be harder to see if you correctly fill it with color.

Absolutely agree with everything NYC stated. Dr Colorchip would be my choice as well.
Plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to do it. The only thing I would add, is to keep the car clean and WAXED regularly! |
