Amazing story

My girlfriend was watching extreme makeover home edition, and they had a family with a kid who was born with no eyes and he can't straighten his legs or arms fully. Anyways, he played at the end, and the kid is an amazing pianist and singer. Pretty touching crap

amazing

That is an excellent story of determination, passion, and a heart unhindered for what he loves in life.

Bless people like this who no matter what, never will give up. Nor will ever be put down for what is seen as a mistake or a handicap on their behalf.

Found another great story of inspiration:
not trying to threadjack, but this could be the start of a great thread for people to share stories of people who just dont give up in life.

Not to steal the kid's thunder but he doesn't know what he's missing. It's different when you lose an ability in adulthood. I'm pretty nearsighted and understand blindness to a minor degree. One thing to have something and lose it, another to never have had it at all.

I'm glad that his parents refuse to let him be an invalid. As far as musical skills, it's a matter of practice. Glad he is allowed to do those things. He might even be able to support himself in the future.

Late friend of mine was shot in the neck in a gun accident. His best friend handed him the rifle barrel first, loaded. A dumb kid stunt. The rifle discharged, striking him in the neck, between the cervical vertebra. The round, a 22 rimfire, wasn't powerful enough to kill him outright, but instead just cleanly severed his spinal chord.

He said he remembers a "bubble going up his back" and from that moment on he was numb below his clavicle. They life flighted him out of the field where they were horsing around. He returned to his family about a year later, with a tracheotomy scar and no use of his arms or legs.

The part that galled him until his death was that he'd never made love to a woman. He had a "hook up" scheduled that very day, after he and his buddy were done with their shooting session. Later we tried to get him some quality time with some choice ladies but his Mom blocked us.

Instead of racing bikes, raising hell and being a terror he embarked on a life of rolling around in a wheelchair. At first he couldn't move anything below his shoulders. So others pushed him here and there.

They put him on a pharmacy of drugs. Drugs to control his spasms, which were amazing to watch. His whole body would start to tremble and shake, sometimes pretty violently. Among the symptoms was that he would get sexually aroused. One time one of his friends (he and his friends played rough) decided to "show off" for his girlfriend and struck the kid on the knee. Unfortunately for the kid my man didn't have his legs strapped in and kicked the kid right in the groin.

Other drugs made his insides work right, suppressed infections and kept his mood glad. He spent most of his time watching TV at first.

Every three days he did "number two". If you watched "Born on the Fourth of July" you have seen this process. It was nothing nice.

His parents had divorced long ago. His step Dad was a good friend of mine who elected to marry his Mom and take care of him. The two became inseparable companions.

One day his step Dad noticed a "twitch" in his right bicep. They decided to "work" on it. Spent months making the kid lift his arm.

The goal was to present his Mom with a Christmas Present. What nobody figured on was that it also empowered him to run a wheelchair.

By Christmas he had decent motor control of his upper arm. He handed his Mom a present. She was thrilled beyond words.

Later he got a motorized wheel chair, controlled with a knob he ran with the right arm. One day he and his sister argued, she slapped his face, so he ran her into the wall with his wheelchair and banged up her shins.

He lived that way for over twenty years. Lots of adventures. One day he died in his sleep. However he was a good kid and being around him made you appreciate being able to do regular things.

One thing that drove him to the point of rage was suicide. One of his friends whined about his life and said he'd be "better off dead". My man said, "I'll pull the trigger if he wants dead". Yeah, he had a stand for his firearms, which he'd aim with his wheelchair and then pull the trigger with string which he'd tugl with his teeth. He told a third party, "Send him up here. I'll shoot him. What are they gonna do, send me to jail?"

I know that he's free of these burdens now but he sure taught the rest of us to appreciate what we got.
