Happened to me once at a girlfriend's house. Her Teutonic Knight uber Father, with his MIT PhD and cool geeky attitude, decided to open the garage door for some Farfegneugen, backing his diesel rabbit into my Nova at about ten or twenty miles an hour. He was so accustomed to just "whipping out" at his rural Fortress of Solitude that he didn't even bother to look before he stepped on it (his other claim to fame was the "pop pass" where he'd come up about ten feet off of your bumper before whipping around you).

Well, his excitement ended early when he felt and then saw my Nova.

He came into the house a short time later, holding the remnants of one of his tail lights while asking me very nicely to park elsewhere on my next visit. I didn't even see the dents for days after wards.

Sorry about your accident. Even more sorry that your Mom doesn't look behind her before she backs up. Good thing she didn't smash a kid or run out into the street and crunch someone on a bicycle.

That horrible! I hope your baby will recover!! Are you both listed in the same insurance policy? It gets a little complicated with losses within the household.

Happily, it's your Mum's fault, so she'll take the hit.

Oddly enough, my mother (who is also German) did the same thing to my Acura Integra a few years back. I was home on leave from the Air Force and she wasn't used to a car being parked in the driveway behind her. Cost her a new hood, and her Mercedes was barely marked...

No, I don't watch TV, at least often enough to see such things.

We have a lot of elderly drivers hereabouts. I've seen them do all sorts of crazy stuff. Including backing out into traffic as if it were their driveway.

God protects children and idiots. Most of the time.

I would like to point out that gene used the word Farfegneugen. Also I have my bumper because of a eclipse hitting the old one its the c-one style. You might wanna check your windshield washer fluid jug also.

I would think if anyone backs out of their garage, that they are responsible no matter what color the car is. Nice of your father to fix the radiator. You also posted that you have $1500 deductable. That is the highest I have ever heard of !
Good luck fixing your car and show us the before and after pics.

After breaking up with a girlfriend I lived with, coming back to mom's was one of the easiest choices I ever made.

And now I get free laundry service again!
