Valvoline 300,000 Mile Engine Guarantee

Have you guys heard about the new Valvoline Engine Guarantee? If you use the full synthetic Valvoline SynPower oil, they will guarantee your engine to 300,000 miles. It covers everything that oil touches. You can read all about it at www.valvoline.com. I have been using it since my Yaris was new anyway, I am sure going to register mine.

None. They researched this deal for two (2) years before bringing it to the consumer market. Car must have less than 75k and newer than 1991 to register. Keep your receipts for oil changes and log them in online as well. Must get the oil changed at least every 4,000 miles. They know full well they will pay some claims. BTW, I DO NOT work for Valvoline. Just used it for years and have done my research on the guarantee. Only thing I found they don't cover is timing belts/chains. I'm in.

Changing oil every 4000 miles for 99% of vehicles is ridiculous and a waste which creates so much unnecessary pollution. That's 50% more oil changes than required even to people who stick strictly to every 6000 miles. It's an ever bigger waste when you see the research which shows most newer vehicles can safely go well over 10000 miles between oil changes.

I personally stick to every 6000 miles with the spec of whatever is required by the car.

I go 10,000 to 15,000 miles or a year between oil changes... whatever comes first

oil is always as clean as the day I poured it in

To each his own. I would NEVER, EVER, EVER go 6,000 miles in between changes, much less 10,000. Oil changes are cheap insurance and I think more of my automobiles than that. Used oil is recycled and the part of Texas I live in, people change oil every 3,000 miles anyway. I grew up around very heavy duty farm equipment and am a firm believer in preventive maintenance. There is a reason for the old cliche' "pay me now or pay me later". I take care of my vehicles and they last until I am ready to trade, not when they break down. Just wanted to mention it here, it isn't going to work for everyone.

A big company like Valvoline can make this guarantee because most people will get a new car before 300,000 miles. When the body gets banged up or the upholstery starts to tear people start to think about a new car. But go for it!

do some research.... modern oils do not break down nearly as fast as they did in days past...
I can actually go 25k miles on my oil b4 it starts to break down, but I choose not to push it that far.

yeah I guess oil changes are cheep, but what you are doing is feeding big oil and furthering our country's addiction to oil

the only reasons to change your oil should be if it is dirty (contaminated) or the oil is starting to break down... doing otherwise is just plane wasteful

then again you are from Texas, so I am sure that backwards way of thinking makes sense to you

I expect mine will go 300,00 miles on standard oil, changing it at 5,000 mile intervals, if I keep it that long. (See no reason why I wouldn't, but who knows?)

I agree. Very few people will ever own a car that long.

my jeep cherokee just hit 275k and it's been a 3k oil change on conventional all it's life. but then again it's an I-6 engine and that kinda mileage is nothing....

20 bux every 3k or 3mo is not a bad deal for the cost comparison to an engine, and the cost to put it in.

also, the oil change interval is variable based on driving habits, environment, weather, and a few other factors... i personally use the 3k timeline myself(or 3 months, but i usually hit 3k miles in about a month and a half), and i have never had a problem...

BlackYaris,
You don't have to be a hater, everyone can't be from the great state of Texas! I won't stoop to your level and make fun of Ohio, if you want to run your car 25,000 miles between changes, go for it. As for getting a new car before then, I don't ever see myself getting rid of the Yaris, even if it becomes a backup car. You have a great week, in Ohio.

I've switched both my Yaris and my Fit to Valvoline Synthetic. It seems to be good oil. My brother told me it looks to be more clear than Mobil-1. It says every 4000 miles! That's way too soon for synthetic oil. 3000 miles with a 1000 mile grace period. Hmm... no thanks. I doubt that if you are using any synthetic oil and change it at mfg. recommended intervals, you will have any internal engine problems anyway due to the oil failure. I'm going to continue using Valvoline Synthetic, but I won't sign up for this warranty.

“Qualifying Vehicles” excludes: a) leased vehicles, b) vehicles used for competitive or agricultural purposes, c) vehicles where the engine has been modified with equipment or parts that are not factory original parts or equipment, d) vehicles that have been modified with non-factory equipment or accessories (e.g., snow plow attachment, etc.),

c) and d) excludes 90% of yaris world.

Receipts must be printed (not hand written) and specify clearly and unambiguously the following information: use of Valvoline oil for the oil change, and the type of oil used (e.g., premium conventional, Durablend, SynPower, etc.), viscosity of Valvoline oil used, and oil filter used.

Most modern receipts fade with time and I don't think any receipt for oil that I bought had oil type, viscosity, brand, and EVERYTHING listed on it.

The Qualifying Vehicle engine must be serviced exclusively with the vehicle manufacturer’s required viscosity grade

I'd check into this one. I don't know if 5w20 is considered "recommended" or "allowable"

The engine guarantee covers ANY repairs, not just one's caused by oil failure. That is what Quaker State and Pennzoil offer. Totally useless since oil never fails causing engine damage. Parts fail, that is what the Valvoline Engine Guarantee covers. It is free, no cost involved and the place I get my oil changed at has everything plainly stated on their receipts. There is not a product or service out there for everybody, so to each his own. You must do what you are comfortable with.
